The CFA Institute regularly conducts professional analysis of Chartered Financial Analysts worldwide to determine the relevance of the investment knowledge and skills in the curriculum to the practical work of Chartered Financial Analysts. The candidate’s Body of Knowledge™ consists of four main parts: ethical and professional standards, investment instruments (including equity securities, fixed-income products, financial derivatives, and other investment products), asset valuation (including quantitative analysis methods, economics, financial statement analysis, and corporate finance), and portfolio management and investment performance reporting.
The CFA Level I exam focuses on investment valuation and management tools, and also includes an introductory overview of asset valuation and portfolio management techniques. The Level I exam is in multiple-choice format, with 120 questions per section, totaling 240 questions.
